ABOUT POTENTIAL FOR LAKE CONTAMINATION
The
Lake Preservation Committee reminds residents
that contamination of the lake can occur
at any time after heavy rains. Please
be vigilant to protect your health --
avoid lake water contact activities for
24 to 48 hours after heavy rainfalls or
until any posted restrictions have been
lifted. Check for alerts at the beaches
and the LMOA information resources on
cable TV channels 10 and 14 and the LMOA

SPRING
CLEAN UP FACTS AND RESTRICTIONS
Three
large dumpsters are available at Tufton
Lake upper parking area for disposal of
items that are too large for regular trash
pick up. The dumpsters are open 7AM
to 7PM daily, except when the
dumpsters are full. The area will be closed
until the dumpsters can be emptied, which
is scheduled for Monday mornings and Wednesday
and Friday afternoons. Restrictions
apply . Please follow these guidelines
so we can continue this service:
Please use the area only when
open.
Place discards inside
the dumpster, not on the ground.
This service is provided for
residents' personal use only .
Commercial dumping is NOT permitted
.
Do not dump construction
debris; tires; paint cans; household or
other chemicals, including fertilizers,
pesticides and herbicides; leaves and
yard waste; or regular trash/garbage.
Appliances containing coolant
are NOT permitted. If you want
to dispose of refrigerators, freezers
or air conditioners, contact the Administration
Office at (434) 589-8263 for instructions.
If
you have useable items you want to get
rid of, please do not discard them in
the dumpsters. Please donate
them to local non-profit organizations
that can put the items to work for the
community, such as Fluvanna SPCA (591-0123),
Christian Outreach (589-9552) and MACAA
(842-2521). This will also save LMOA AND
YOU the cost of disposal.
Let's put fewer usable items
in the dumpster and more to work for good
causes in our community.
